MontanaOutfitters.Com (MOCom), affiliated with the Horse Prairie
Ranch (HPR) in southwest Montana, is the only overnight USFS
outfitter with authorization to conduct overnight guided hunts
into tens of thousands of acres of roadless wilderness areas of
the Beaverhead National Forest, above the HPR.
MOCom guided
elk hunts average 5 days of hunting in remote and rugged
mountains, with elevations ranging from 6,500 to 9,800 feet. Hunters are welcomed at the LakeSide Lodge at the HPR for
orientation and to prepare for a 2 hour pack trip to a remote
backcountry camp. MOCom guests hunt on horseback and on foot
from a backcountry camp. MOCom fair chase group hunts result in
kill success rates of between zero and 100%, depending upon
weather, luck, and/or a hunter's physical abilities. MOCom
advises all hunters to prepare for a MOCom hunt by rigorous
exercise in advance of the hunt. This will not only contribute
to a hunter’s health but also increase the chances of a
successful hunt. Our guarantee is for a memorable hunt!
Hunters
arrive on Saturdays, hunt from the backcountry camp or the
LakeSide guest area all week. Departures will be the next
Saturday morning from the LakeSide area. The HPR lodges are
located on HPR property next to the USFS border and offer
private rooms. The MOCom backcountry camp is located
approximately 2 hours by horseback from the LakeSide area. The
camp features white wall tents, wood stoves, air-mattresses,
metal bunk beds, and carpet. ATV hunting is not allowed from the
Backcountry camp.
MOCom
provides one experienced guide per two hunters. The guides know
the country and are very skilled hunters. All hunting is only on
public lands (BLM and USFS).
